Ashley Cole, Lauren James, Jermain Defoe and Yaya Toure are among the star names attending the Football Black List celebration, supported by the Premier League, on Thursday evening (24 April 2025) at the Emirates stadium.
The celebration event brings the Black community and football industry together to recognise those on the Football Black List, as well as leaders and pioneers receiving special awards.
The high profile gathering will take place at the home of Arsenal Football Club, where comedian and Strictly Come Dancing star, Eddie Kadi,and ESPN leading presenter, Alexis Nunes, will host the event.
The family of the late Kevin Campbell will be presented with an award in recognition of the former Arsenal and Everton star’s contribution to football before he sadly passed away in 2024.
The first Black captain of the Lionesses, Mary Phillip, will receive an award for her role as a pioneer for England in the women’s game.
The Cyrille Regis Award will go to Manchester City and Jamaica global star, Bunny Shaw. The award recognises Black achievement within the last year and is chosen by the Regis family. Bunny was chosen for her strong stance against racism and abuse.
Music stars performing live on the night include Bashy, Enny and DJ AG.
The Football Black List was founded in 2008 by sports journalists, Leon Mann MBE and Rodney Hinds. The widely respected initiative highlights leaders of African and Caribbean heritage working and volunteering across all areas of football.
Leon Mann MBE, said: “The Football Black List celebration is now a fixture in the sports calendar and we have so many incredible people to pay tribute to each year.
“The Premier League support and the backing from the Black community and the entire football industry has ensured that the positive initiative continues to go from strength to strength. We are eternally grateful for this.”
Rodney Hinds, added: “The Football Black List just keeps getting bigger and better each year and we are excited to be at the world famous home of Arsenal Football Club this year.
“We have some special announcements to make on the night and we can’t wait to celebrate the Black community’s vast contributions to the beautiful game together.”
