Helena Scotland is making an impact within the industry by paving the way for Black women and girls in futsal. Helena represented England in the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup qualifiers in Moldova—the first and only Black Futsal Lioness and first-ever goal scorer. Recognition of Helena’s sporting achievements as a one-to-watch would increase her potential to inspire others as a player, qualified futsal referee, coach and developing content creator—not just because of her selection for the first England Women’s National Futsal Team, but her journey to get there. She has immersed herself in the game at all levels; playing successful seasons at club level; advocating for futsal in the media on podcasts; and becoming the only Black female referee. While waiting for the next official coaching qualification, she secured an opportunity to coach youth futsal with Premier League clubs.
