2024
Renée was offered the head coach role at Watford against all the odds. She was supported by the previous coach and the club. After a season managing the development team, she was nervous but excited for the challenge. The team had just been relegated so Renée has had to deal with low confidence in the players and a team rebuild. She managed to secure a core group of players who have put their faith in her. I believe she is the youngest head coach in the top three tiers of women’s football. Racism, exclusion and injuries have blighted her personal life and she draws strength from those challenges. Renée starts the UEFA A course on Jan 25 and has been invited onto an elite female coaching programme run by the FA which is ongoing. She is proud of the fact that she is someone who can represent the black community in a positive way but looks forward to the day that race is not a factor for senior roles in football.
